The Way of Saint James

A mind that is expanded by a new experience can never return to its old dimensions. – Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.
The Way of Saint James
Program organized in collaboration with the Miami Mayor's Office and Big Brother & Big Sister of America
The program
El Camino de Santiago offers low-income youth with academic excellence and enrolled in Title I schools the opportunity to travel to Spain and walk the Camino de Santiago – one of the oldest pilgrimage routes in history.
During their participation in the program, students will live a unique experience where they will learn about the history, culture and traditions of Spain and, above all, learn to interact with other students and grow as individuals.
With these interdisciplinary life experiences we believe it is possible to change the lives of young people in a positive and lasting way.

Cultural Exchange Program
Participants are encouraged to develop respect and interest in other cultures, traditions and beliefs. All activities are designed to provide interaction opportunities for students to participate in discussions, roles and debates about the cultures of the USA and Spain, their values and include different topics of interest among young people. As part of the experience, the Miami participants will join another group of students from Madrid who are part of the Go American English program, a micro-scholarship English program organized by the International Studies Foundation in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy of Spain.
